BOXING.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last night, when Mr. E. Whittle presided over a good attendance of members. A letter was received from L. Cadman enclosing a doctor’s certificate, which showed that he suffered from a severe attach of influenza, and would not be able to resume training for at least a week.
It was decided to arrange the tournament for Saturday, October 22, the date of the amateur athletic sports meeting, and to communicate with the two contestants asking if that date is suitable.
Notification was received from the council that it was now necessary for all boxers to be registered, amateurs to pay 2s 6d per annum, whilst the local association had also to pay a license •fee of £1 Is for every competition held; 2J per cent, had also to be deducted off all professional purses. These amounts had to be forwarded to the Dominion Council, and would be earmarked for a fund to send championship teams away. Discussion was deferred pending a meeting of the Centre Committee.
