Athens, Sept. 19. M. Gounaris, Premier, states that the General Staff never intended to occupy Angora. The troops could have succeeded, but there was no strategic reason for the occupation of the town.
CONFLICTING REPORTS. Constantinople, Sept. 19. The KemalM successes have compelled the Greeks to withdraw from the western bank of the Sakaria, leaving a large quantity o*2 war material and munitions. The Greeks deny the withdrawal, and state that- they drove the enemy back, with heavy losses.
