In the report of the results of the show Mrs. Gow’s name should have been included in those of the ladies in charge of the produce stall. It must have been a source of satisfaction to those 'who worked so hard for the success of the whole function to know that the takings for Thursday amounted, to £lO3.
On Friday the display of blooms attracted a goodly number, and there were some more guessing competitions, which resulted as follows: —Ham No. 3, Miss C. Hamerton; cushion No. 4, Mrs. C. Langman; doll’s cot, Miss Brown; dolls ‘Arry and ‘Arriett,, Mrs. F. Brown and Mrs. Frazer; bride doll. Miss Fawcett; camisole, Miss N. Wilson; copper kettle, Miss N. Wilson; settee, Mrs. Winfield. The social and dance on Friday night was, in spite of the rough weather, a great success. Mr. F. Boulton supplied the music, and Messrs, W. fi!, Henderson and G. Henwood efficiently carried out the duties of M.’sC. The contestants at euchre occupied eleven tables. The ladies’ prize was won by Mr. Winter, the gentlemen’s by Mr. H. Clough, while the consolation stakes fell to Mrs. Hen wood senr. and Mr. VV, Rees. The actual results, financially, cannot yet be settled, though it is certain they are satisfactory. The committee are enthusiastic over the support given to their efforts, and heartily acknowledge the thanks they owe to Mesdames. H. Greig (of New Plymouth), H. B. Lepper (of Lepperton), J. B. Win field (of New Plymouth), and Messrs. J. Gibson and Duncan and Davies for glorious displays of blooms they gratuitously gave, and who, at no small trouble, contributed to the general attractiveness of the whole display. The ladies o$ the district are determined to make a success of their appeal for support to the ladies’ rest room, and have organised a mart in aid of that laudable object on Saturday next, especially by the country folk, in whose interest it is chiefly conducted.
