DEFEAT OF EHGDAHD. “MET A BETTER TEAM.” By Telegraph.-—Frees Assn. —Copyright. Received Sept. 19, 7.30 p.m. London, Sept. 19Hobbs, interviewed by the Daily News, replies to Armstrong and expresses surprise that his old friend had not referred to England’s atrocious luck. He added: “I never imagined Armstrong would come down like A thousand bricks on English professionals, and his slight is not easy to understand. I, personally, am acquainted with all the professionals who played Australia in England, and it seems to me Armstrong formed a very quaint notion of our national pride.- I do not believe we could have made any show at all during the last five tests by reducing the number of professionals, but I am ready to admit we were defeated because we met a better team.” Aus.N.Z.
