Lord Northcliffe has arrived at Hobart, where he was officially welcomed (says a cable message). Mr. Lloyd George’s health is better (says a London cable). An Inverness dentist lanced an abscess on Mr. Lloy i George’s tooth, which was the cause of his illness.
Mr. John Miles Kerrall, well-known throughout the Dominion as a pioneer State Bank advocate died at his residence, Swannanoa, aged 72 (says a telegram from Christchurch).
The death has occurred in Auckland of an old resident of Napier, Mr. Jamet Robb, in his 78th year. Deceased was a native of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, and was never married. He came to New Zealand over 40 years ago.
A very old resident of Auckland, Mr. , William Brinsden, has died at his late residence, Takapuna, in his 83rd year. Mr. Brinsden arrived in Auckland in 1864 by the ship Surat, on October 17. He took part in the rush to Thame) goldfield.
The many friends of Mr. S. Wyllie, headmaster of the Waitara School, will regret to learn of his death, which occurred on Saturday morning. He has been in indifferent health for a long time.
The death occurred at Uremii on Friday of Mr. James Phinaee Clifford, aged 7'5 years. The late Mr. Clifford was &• very old pettier and was well known throughout this district. He was the pioneer storekeeper in the Tarata district before there were really any roads at all and built up an extensive business. He retired some years ago and ha<i latterly resided with his sister, Mrs. Alfred Smith.
