TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the ; Taranaki Land Board was held on Wednesday and Thursday. 14th and 15th ins'ts. Present: Messrs. H. J. Lowe (chairman), N. -R. Cleland, J. W. H. Martin and S. Blake. A ballot was held for sections in the Katikara settlement, near Okato, and the - successful applicants were as follows:—C. C. Eustace, section IS., S 9 acres 1 rood; Edward Hansen, section 25., 106 acres 2 roods. The application of E. A. Relph for flection 7, block XIII., Cape, was refused. The board considered a letter, from S. E. C. Taylor in regard to s?clion 8, block VII., Pouatu, and it was decided to adhere to the previous, resolution and grant the section to Messrs. Kerr and Gwilliam. An application to transfer section 28, Croydon settlement, from B. L. Sm’th to T. V. Sherscm was refused-,. Schedules of arrears were submitted to the board for consideration, and it was resolved to take action for the recovery of amounts due. Forty applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Acts were dealt with as follows:—(Eight building grants were recommended; 5 applications for farms Were refused and one recommended; 14 applications for stock were recommended, 2 refused, and 6 deferred. Two applications to transfer were recommended, and one deferred. One application for an-additional building grant was recommended.
