MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING, BY-LAW BREACHES.* Mr. W. H. Bundle, S.M. (of Auckland) occupied the New Plymouth Magisterial bench at yesterday’s sitting, owing to the absence of Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., in Dunedin. On the information of the Taranaki County Council inspector (Mr. B. Tippins), Paul Stachurski was fined 10s (costs 17s 6d) for allowing a heifer and a bull to be at large on the Waitara - New Plymouth Road on August 18 A. E. Huggett, for leaving an unlighted motor-car in Currie Street on the night of August 22, wa«s convicted and ordered to pay costs (7s) only. L. Wickham. for a similar offence, was dealt with in the same wav.

Ronald Paul, for leaving a coil of wire-netting on the footpath outside his shop in Devon Street on September 2, was fined 5s (costs 7s).

John Rosevear, for riding a bicycle on the .footpath in Devon Street, was fined 15s (costa 7s).

Lewis Hoffmann, for riding an unlighted bicycle along Weymouth Street on the evening of September 2, was fined 15s (costa 7s). MAINTENANCE ARREARS. The case against Francis Keenan, who waa £39 in arrears in refepect to the maintenance of his four children, who had been committed to a receiving home was adjourned for three months, to allow defendant an opportunity of making up arrears. UNDEFENDED ~CASES. * In the following cases judgment for the amounts claimed was entered:— M. G. T. Priest (Mr. C. McCormick for Mr. C. H. Croker) v. !E. Parfitt, £74 14s 6d (costa £4 17s); Hallonatein Bros. (Mr. A. x. Lawrey) v. E. Clarke, £5 (costs £1 12s 6d); Standard Fire, Accident and Marine Insurance Co. (Mr. A. Bewley) v. G. W. Benton, £3 6s 9d (costs £1 3s 6d) ; New Plymouth Borough Council (Mr. R. H. Quilliam) v. J. Roguski, £1 15s 2d (costs £1); Andrew Smith (Mr. H. R. Billing) v. C. Z. Smith, £4 2s 6d (costs £1 3s 6d).

In the case of George Waters (Mr. A. A. Bennett) v. Z. C. Clarke, a claim for £8 0s 6d, the judgment debtor was sentenced to seven days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as lie paid 10s per month off the debt.
