PLOT IN TURKEY.
SPREADING DISAFFECTION. ACTION TAKEN IN TIME. By Telegraph.—Pres® Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 15, 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 14. Telegrams from General Harington show that the Constantinople plot is widespread. None of the leaders have been arrested, but persons have been detained who were found to be in touch with Kemal-ists. They endeavored to play on the Moslem feelings of Indian troope, amongst whom large quantities of seditious pamphlets were distributed. They also aimed at the assassination of Shiek Al Islam and other prominent Turkish officials, as well as Allied military leaders. The situation is undoubtedly serious, but there is reason to believe that the movement was stopped in time. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
