CORRESPONDENCE.

THE TOKO RESERVE. (To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice in your report of the last meeting of the New Plymouth Borough Council that a special commit* tee had inspected Mr. G. Sangster’s farm, and had come to the conclusion that the valuation of the was altogether too high. In consequence the council has decided to reduce the valuations of the two sections owned by him, notwithstanding that one of them had been accepted by the lessee. I write to point out that the council, in reply to the representations of other lessees who had objected like Mr. Sangster, were informed, not once but several that the late Mr. H. F. Russell’s valuations must stand, and that under no circumstances were they to be reviewed, whatever else was done. We were therefore forced to accept thiaposition, and I for one don’t see why< our valuations also should not come up for reconsideration. We were forced toj accept the valuations, and our agreement cannot be a bar to their being reopened, seeing that the council hav<* 'allowed Mr. Sangster’s valuations to ba reconsidered. 1 hope, therefore, the ■council will allow the same committed to inspect the other farms in the area and meet us lessees with a view to af reduction in valuations.—l am, etc., LESSEE. Toko, September 15.
