FOOTBALL.
SPRINGBOK MATCH.
Matters in connection with the running of a special train for the third test match are now in progress, and will be definitely decided at a meeting of the Taranaki Rugby Union to-night. The position at present is that the Railway Department will run a train if the Taranaki Rugby Union will guarantee 100 first-class ordinary fares to Wellington and back, a sum of about £375. The department will iesdue excursion fares, but are only prepared at present to allow ticket sales as far south as Eltham to be included as a set-off against the guarantee. The Taranaki Rugby Union considers that Hawera should also be included, and is approaching the department in that direction.
