SENSATIONAL ALLEGATIONS.
By Teloprapb —Press Assn Copyright.
Received September 6, 5.5 p.m. London, September 6. Much public contrpversy has been aroused over Mrs. Hamilton’s attempted Channel swimming. Mr. Arthur Porter, the owner who accompanied her trial swim in 1920, now reveals for the first time that she was asleep in his motor-boat in Dover harbor at the time she claimed to have swum within nine miles of the French coast, and actually spent one hour in the water. Airs. Hamilton says that Mr. Porter’s statement is a sheer fabrication, and that she is consulting a solicitor. She admits she did not keep the chart of this year’s swim. She thought is was unnecessary, as she was an amateur. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
