KRURPS IN PEACE TIME. By T»legraph.—Preas Assn.—copyright. London, Sept. 1. According to the Berlin correspondent of the Daily Chronicle Knippa are wholly on a peace-time basis and the results are most impressive. They now employ 99,000, compared with 171,000 in July, 1918, and. 81,000 at the outbreak of the war. The increase is due to the introduction of the eight-hour day instead of the pre-war 10 hours. Krupp’s products include ships, agricub tural machinery, motor lorries and locomotives, the latter employing 5000 alone and giving a yearly output of 300 heavy locomotives and 2500 15-ton trucks. WORLD PEACE IDEAL. Washington, Sept. I. President Harding addressed the officers of the Army War College. He said he hoped to see war entirely abolished but the perfecting of future armies and navies would probably always be necee sary. He blamed the lack of understanding for the warfare in West Virginia and said the policy of understanding at home and abroad would solve many ills. THE AIRSHIP DISASTER. London, Sept. 1. According to the evidence on the victims of R3B, the wireless officer, Wicks, sent out a message saying “Ship broken, falling.” The coroner said it was a striking illustration of indomitable courage and supreme self-control. BRITISH UNEMPLOYED. _ London, Sept. I. The employment exchanges report that there is 1,575,800 unemployed in the United Kingdom, compared with .1,642,508 in the previous week. WORLD COURT OF JUSTICE. Hague, Sept. 1. The International Law Convention has bestowed its blessings on the Court of Justice of the League of Nations, be lieving it the future saviour of civilisation. Even Teutonic voices were.raised in its favor. The report recommends uniform aerial laws for all countries for damage and insurance.
