Orders for papers may also be left will*, them. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. September 2. A short sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at Stratford last night, when Mr. F. W. Mowlem, S.M., presided. BY-LAW CASES. The borough inspector (Mr., W. Rowson) prosecuted in a number of for breaches of the borough by-laws. Albert Chong, J. Marriner, E. Boyd, Lindsay Jackson and Rowland Jackson, for riding bicycles without lights at night, were each fined 5s and costs 7s; Jas. Smith, for riding a bicycle on the footpath, was similarly dealt with. F. L. Ward, for driving a motor-car without a tail light, was fined 10s and costs 7s. E. O’Connor, for driving a horse and cart in Broadway North without a light, was fined £2 and costs 7s. The Magistrate remarked that these men who drove carts without lights were not only a menace to themselves, but to the general community. P. G. Brooking was charged, on the information of the county inspector (Mr. H. J. Spearman) with a breach of the heavy traffic by-laws. Mr. Coleman, who appeared for the inspector, said that the by-law provided that the load should not exceed more than tons on each pair of wheels. Defendant’s motor lorry weighed over three tons and his load was three tons. He had taken out a heavy traffic license the following day. —Convicted and fined £2 and costs 7s. CIVIL BUSINESS. Tn the following undefended cases judgment was given for plaintiff by default for the amount claimed, 'with costs:—Adolph Alanoy v. P. McCurdy and Mary Ann McCurdy, £l3 8s 4d (costs £4 8s); Chas. D. Lightband v. Chas. F. Turner, £l2 14s 8d (£2 18s G<1); David C. Lind v. Hy. Martini, £lO (£1 16s); Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation v. Godfrey A. Smith, £35 18s (£4 14s 6d); State Advances Superintendent v. Horatio Dudding. £5 Lis 6d (15s); Adolph Manoy v. Colin McLaren, £6 is 5d (£1 10s 6d); Geo. C. Bain v. Geo. Henry Blackwell, £Bl Ils 8d ( £4 Ils fid); Nelson and Green v. Lewis J. Kinross, £3 8s 5d (£1 10s 6d); David Steven v. Lewis J. Kinross, £2 3s ( £1 10s fid); Joseph Kramer Stone v. T. A. Lonergan, £2 (£1 5s fid); John Fry day v. Benjamin F. Hunter, £5 ( £1 3s 6d). In the following judgment summons cases orders were made as follows: N. P. Lawson was ordered to pay the Stratford Racing Club the sum of £l4 Ils 3d, in default 14 days’ imprisonment; Chas. Southcombe was ordered to pay the Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation £23 10s, in default 21 days’ imprisonment. THE KING’S CINEMA THEATRE. TO-DAY AND TO-NIGHT. At the matinee performance of the King’s Cinema Theatre, Stratford, today, Fatty Arbuckle in his side-splitting comedy, “Fatty Out West,” and Viola Dana in her latest Metro super production, “Cinderella’s Twin,” will be screened. Cinderella’s Twin” is a fascinating love story with a modern Cinderella in the leading role. To-night the programme will be “Cinderella’s Twin,” gazette, comedy, f: King of the Circus.” Musical selections will be played by augmented orchestra, under the direction of C. H. Fox. Seats may be booked at theatre office. Prices as usual.
