OCEAN FREIGHTS.
IMPERIAL SHIPPING BOARD CONTINUANCE ADVOCATED. By Telccraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London, Sept. I. The Imperial Shipping Committee, of which Mr. Mackinder is chairman, reports in favor of a permanent Imperial Shipping Board to inquire into complaints with regard to ocean freights and the inter-imperial trade to exercise conciliation between the interests concerned with Imperial shipping, to promote co-ordination and perform such duties as may be entrusted to them under the laws with regard to shipping applicable to the whole or important parts of the Empire. The report suggests that the chairman should be a paid post, and that he should be elected for five years, representatives of the Dominion to remain as in the present committee. Endeavors should be made to secure one or two representatives in do«ie touch with overseas shipping and commerce. Probably some rotation in representation could be arranged among the Dominions.
