The Trades Hall has decided to run industrial candidates against Labor members at the next State elections, the union leaders stating that the present Government is useless to them. SOUTH AUSTRALIAN POLITICS. Received September 1, 9.50 p.m. Adelaide, Sept. 1. The Assembly is debating a motion by Mr. Butler for a reduction of the number of members of the Assembly and the Legislative Council by one-third. A CENSURE MOTION. Received September 2, 1.20 a.m. Sydney, Sept. 1. The censure debate was continued in the Assembly. Mr. Wearne, leader of the Progressives, added to the motion: “That the Government is deserving of censure because of the method adopted in making the recent appointments to the Upper House and because hte legislation of the Eight Hour Amendment Act and the Profiteering Act addded greatly to the burden of the primary producers.” LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION. Sydney, Sept. 1. The League of Nations Union carried resolutions protesting against the appointment of Mr. Shepherd, temporary High Commissioner for Australia, as Australian representative at the Geneva Conference. UNEMPLOYED CAUSE TROUBLE. Sydney, Sept. 1. An unemployment deputation angrily demonstrated outside Parliament and subsequently marched to the Towm Hall with the object of raiding the supper tables at the hospital ball. Two shop windows en route were broken. Ono arrest was made. DUTY ON NEWSPRINT. Melbourne, Sept. 1. Tn the Senate the Government proposal to reduce the intermediate general duties from £3 to £2 per ton on newsprint was carried by 13 votes to 8.
