WASHINGTON CONFERENCE.
JAPAN’S POLICY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyriglt Tokio, August 31. Japan’s policy at the Washington Conference has been approved by the throne. It includes insistence on the status quo with regard to the Laitotung lease, including Port Arthur, the maintenance of vested rights in the South Manchurian railway, the settlement of the Shantung question directly with China, the continuation of the Yap mandate in accordance with the Versailles award.
These are the cardinal points on which Japan will be adamant. Others are subject to a complete exchange of views.
