IN BANKRUPTCY.
ESTATE OF HARRY ASHER. The meeting of creditors in the estate of Harry Asher (otherwise known as Harry Hill), baker, of Okato, at the office of the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr. J. S. 8. Medley), New Plymouth, yesterday, lapsed for want of a quorum, none of the creditors being present. Asher, who was declared bankrupt on August 23, 1921, was represented by Mr. J. C. Nicholson. Bankrupt’s statement showed his assets as £8 10s, made up of £4 10s and one week’s wages due, £4, the deficiency being £9B 13s 2d. Asher arrived in Otakeho in September, 1918, he being then solvent. Owing, he alleged, to the irregularity of his employer in paying ms wages, be there incurred debts amounting to between £45 and £5O. Expenses in moving from Otakeho to Kahikahi to take up a new position amounted to £l5. While at the latter place he incurred further debts amounting to £3O, owing, he stated, to the fact that while he was obtaining only £4 per week in wages, he had to maintain his wife, who was residing in Wellington, and pay board for himself and his son at £2 15s per week. After being employed as a baker in various parts of the country he was engaged by J. S. Fox, of Okato, at a weekly wage of £5. He had been paying off debts incurred at Waverley by instalments. During the last month he had been sued by H. J. Eaves, of Otakeho, for £3l 10s 3d, and as he had no assets whatever he had been forced to file. Following is a list of the unsecured creditors in the estate: H. J. Eaves (Otakeho), £33 4s 3d; Thomas Dell (Otakeho), £5 5s 2d; Martin (Viceroy Tea Company, Wellington), £10; R. P. Palmer (Waverley), £l2 9s sd; A. E. Eames (Waverley), £3 10s 3d; E. C. Dallison (Waverley), £9 16s 7d; Lees and Sons (Kahikahi), £2O; Fitzpatrick (Kahikahi), £10; S. J. Taylor (Waverley), £2 17s 6d; total, £lO7 3s 2d.
