STRATFORD AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication in tie Taranaki Daily News should te left at the office oi out ’Deal representatives, Wilson Bros., Broadway, Stratford. Orders for papers may also be left with them, OBITUARY. August 30. The death occurred at Morrinsville on Monday of Mr. F. J. Macdonald, who was until a few weeks ago manager of the Stratford Dairy Company. Death resulted suddenly from pneumonia following a chill. He was a native of Geelong, Victoria, and was about 45 ■ years of age. Mr. and Airs. Macdonald came to Stratford about seven years ago, when Mr. Macdonald took up the • managership of the Dairy Company. Prior to that he was manager of the Rata Dairy Company, in the Rangitikei district. As a dairyman he fullly understood his work, and the company progressed under his guidance. Whilst in Stratford he took an interest in many of the local bodies and clubs. Until recently he was secretary of the Taranaki Provincial Scottish Society, and he was also a member of both the Stratford School Committee and Stratford Racing Committee for many years, as well as a member of the Stratford Bowling Club. He was a Justice of the Peace and a mason. As a young man Mr. Mac donald was a well-known athlete, and he competed as a cycle rider in many big meetings in both Australia and New Zealand. ‘Tie was also a widelytravelled gentleman, and bad interesting reminiscences. Tie had a pleasant and gracious manner, which, will be sadly missed by many friends in the Stratford district. Mr. and Mrs. Macdonald left Stratford only last week to reside at Morrinsville for a time before going to Australia.

GENERAL. There was an alarm of “fire” about 4 o’clock this afternoon, but th 6 outbreak proved to be only a chimney on fire at a residence in Say ton Street, ft is rather fortunate that there was not a serious outbreak, as the fire engine is at present away from the station being overhauled, and the only fire fighting machine available was a reel. A hockey match which should provide a great deal of amusement will take place at Victoria Park on Thursday afternoon, when the Egmont ladies team will play against a team of men, who will be handicapped by skirts.

Stratford residents who are not on the delivery list for the Taranaki Daily News and would like the paper delivered at their homes each morning kindly notify Messrs. Wilson Bros., Broadway, Stratford, who are the Stratford for the News.
