FITZROY SCHOOL.
FANCY DRESS BALL. A gay, laughing throng filled the East End pavilion, New Plymouth, last night the occasion being a grand plain and fancy dress ball organised by the entertainment committe of ,t‘he Fitzroy School in aid of the school improvement fund. Nearly 200 couples were present and, as a result of the committees efforts. it is estimated thax about £3O , will be netted.
The ladies' committee was responsible 1 for the supper arrangements and consisted of Mesdames Wyatt (chairman). Duckworth, Bellringer. Roberts, Parkin Simpson, George, Jenkins, Goldsworthy, . and Misses West and Simpson. The ; tables were artistically decorated with spring flowers (daffodils, jonquills, I narcissi, etc.), for which work Mesdames ■A. W. R. Bellringer and Jas. Hawkins were responsible. The men’s eommit- | tee consisted of Messrs. F. Duckworth I (chairman), V. George. R. Parkin, i Armitage, and A. W. R. Bellringer (hon |secretary). To Mr. Bellringer a special : word of praise is due, as he carried the I main burden of responsibility. Messrs. A. Roberts and G. F. Goldsworthy efficiently carried out the duties of M.C.’s.
A fair number of dancers appeared in fancy costume. Mesdames E. A. Walker and C. H. Weston kindly acted as judges and allocated the prizes as follows: Best poster: Miss Lee (Lipton’s tea); best fancy, Miss McKenzie (India) ; special prizes (donated by the judges), Miss Field boy) and Miss Wilton (Dutch girl); best comic, Mr. B. Harvey. The committee are to be congratulated upon the success of the function, which is one of a series to raise money for the Fitzroy School improvement fund.
