MINISTER’S SCHEME OF RELIEF. TEMPORARY BUILDINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wcllingt.on, Last Night. An important new departure, intended to meet temporarily during the financial stringency the serious difficulty of overcrowded schools in certain large ureas, was outlined by the Minister of Education to-day. The Minister intends to ask the Goverment to grant funds to enable education boards to erect twenty portable I schools and put them in districts where | there is overcrowding. These schools ; will accommodate 150 to 200 children, i The largest cost is £l5OO and by this means Mr. Parr hopes to secure the same accommodation for £8720 which if provided by brick schools would cost £52,299. When the financial position improves the temporary buildings can be taken down and permanent structures erected.
