TARANAKI PROVINCIAL COUNCIL. A meeting of the Taranaki Provincial Boxing Council was held at New Plymouth last night, when there were present: Messrs. E. Whittle (chairman), E. Jackson (New Plymouth), Casey and Taylor (Eltham), Nelson and Foley (Stratford), and Mr. E. Clarke (secretary).

The council approved of the action of the Tatanaki Boxing Association in arranging a bout between Keenan and Cadman at £2OO, the agreement Ming that no Taranaki Association should put on a match for over £lOO without the consent of the council.

Some discussion took place over the division of purses, and the action of the boxers at times desiring to arrange them. It was decided to ask the centre to forward a remit to tlie council on this matter.

A discussion also took place on the question of amateurs receiving open orders for their trophies. It was pointed out that this was a breach of the amateur rules, which provided that ihe trophy rniust be of an engravablo nature. The next meeting of the Provincial Council will bo held at Eltham.
