REVIVAL OF MILITARISTS.
OLD SPIRIT IN GERMANY.
EX-KAISER’S WORDS OF BOAST. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received August 26, 9.15 p.m. London, August 26. The Daily Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent reports that ten thousand exofficers, soldiers and sailors, headed by Prince Eitel Frederick (the ex-Kaiser’s second son), and General Ludendof paraded the stadium ostensibly to celebrate the memory of fallen comrades, but in reality to participate in militaristic propaganda. The meeting was attended by a thousand school children, who formed a guard for the troops and threw flowers at them.
L The meeting listened to a diatribe by : General von der Goltz against the Al- : lies’ blockade and eulogising the old ! militaristic rule. The ex-Kaiser telegraphed: “It is with warm gratitude that I think to-day of my brave comrades who were never vanquished in the field. With true German loyalty they i achieved against a world of enemies 1 deeds such as, history had never known, and their heroism lives on unforgotten to tlie honorable memory of the dead and for the imitation of the living and the future generation. May the halo of ’ the great days of the past be the beacon for the victorious illumination of the still dark future. God protect the Fatherland and its people.”—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
