RETRENCHMENT.
START IN PUBLIC SERVICE. PERMANENT MEN INCLUDED. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. It was stated to-day that the first batch of .Public Service retrenchment notices have already been sent out to those concerned. The men in question, it is averred, are not temporary civil servants, but permanent men, and they are not all single, nor men who have served their forty years and are eligible to retire on pension. The step is very keenly felt in Public Service circles.
