CORRESPONDENCE.
ELECTRIC POWER. ('To the Editor.) Sir, —The discussion at the Stratford County Council indicates that Cr. Anderson is an irreconcilable who brings to mind the proverb. “There is none so blind as he who will not see.” The policy of the Progress League recognises that certain rights, including licenses, exist, and to ensure progress it is necessary to establish power boards competent to deal with them by absorption or otherwise. It should be obvious to any reasonable mind that a power board representing a powerful and extensive district could exercise more influential action in this direction than a number of small power boards could. The statement that some people have an axe to grind, etc., is mere abuse without foundation; in fact, unworthy of utterance. I challenged the propriety of Cr. Anderson’s action in urging the existence of licenses in some parts as an insuperable barrier to the formation of an extensive power district and omitting reference to the Stratford license. His reply was lardy and not in accordance with facts. This same Cr. Anderson now puts forth the suggestion that the movement to establish an extensive board is prompted by parochially selfish ideas. The suggestion is ridiculous and untenable, but perhaps it is useful as a sort of window through which we may view and appraise the mind that madh it.—l am. etc., .1. B. RICHARDS. Stratford, 22nd August.
