TARANAKI VETERANS.

THE ANNUM, MEETING. At the annual meeting of the Taranaki branch of His Majesty’s Veterans’ Association, held on Saturday, there was an attendance of thirteen members. Mr. G. Adlam presided. The balance sheet- showed that the receipts amounted to £26 7s 3d, of which £ll 2s 3d had been brought forward from the previous year. Payments amounted to £l9 8s 9d, leaving a balance of £6 8s 6d. There was also the sum of £l9 0s 9d deposited in the Savings Bank. In reply to a question, the chairman said that the membership of the branch was now about sixty. A BRANCH DISBANDED. A report wus received, notifying that, owing to the • depletion in their ranks, the Hawera branch had decided to disband, members being requested to join the New Plymouth branch in order to keep in touch with the organisation. A report received on that occasion stated that for the past five or six years the membership had been gradually decreasing, fourteen comrades having died during that period and twelve (most of whom had left the district) had sent in their resignations. They would be left with .only thirteen and of this ntimlir at least six were residing ten miles, and more, outside Hawera. The secretary reported that he had replied. stating that if any members of the disbanded branch wished to join New Plymouth they would be pleased to receive them. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected:— President, Archdeacon Evans; deputychairman, Mr. Adlam; delegates to conference at Palmerston, Messrs. Adlam and C. Billings; secretary, Mr. I. Black (re-elect-ed) ; treasurer, Mr. Adlam (re-elected); auditor,. Mr. W. D. Webster (re-elected); committee, Messrs. W. F. Brooking, H. Newland, J. Kenyon, T. P.- Lister, J. Andrews, O. Oxenham and C. Billing. GENERAL. It was decided that in cases where deaths of veterans occurred in rhe country, the executive be empowered to procure a car in order to enable al least a number of veterans to attend the funerals of comrades. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Black for the services rendered to the branch as secretary. A similar resolution was passed in respect of the outgoing committee.
