PROSPECTS OP AGREEMENT. RECONCILIATORY SPIRIT. GERMANS MEET POLES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Received August 18, 10.55 p.m. Berlin, August 17. Reports from Kaowitz state that there are prospects of reconciliation between the contending parties in Upper Silesia. This is indicated by the result of a conference of leading German industrialists with representatives of the Polish parties, at which it is believed an agreement was reached to co-operate in the interests of Silesia.— Reuter Service. POLES AND GERMANS CLASH. VIOLENT FIGHT IN VILLAGES. Received August 18, 9.10 pan. Berlin, August 17. A violent fight occurred between Germans and Poles in the frontier villages of Sternalitz and Kosterlitz. The former, using grenades, drove the Poles over the frontier. Twenty-four Poles were killed.—• Reuter Service. BRITISH REINFORCEMENTS. A CONDITIONAL OFFER. Received August 18, 8.10 p.m. London, August 17. The Morning Post understands that the British Government has declared its willingness to despatch two more battalions to Upper Silesia, conditionally on France and Italy reinforcing similarly.
