ATHLETICS.

ELTHAM CLUB. The annual meeting of the Eltham Athletic Club was held on Wednesday evening. Mr. Hayes presiding. The report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, the balance-sheet showing a credit balance of £l4 17s 7d. of which amount £33 odd was handed to them from the Athletic League, the year thus showing a debit of approximately £lB 2s sd. The election of officers resulted in Mr. Hayes being re-elected chairman, Mr. H. Nuttall secretary, and the following committee : Messrs. C. {looper, T. Stanners, O. Manley, A. Beesley, H. Andrews. G. Collingwood, WBlcheno, and R. Gibbings. A sub-committee was set up to go into tbe matter of obtaining blocks for chopping, the cost, and where procurable. Honorary members are to be charged ss, and the ticket admits bearer and lady, Instead of 2s 6d. A lengthy discussion took place as to the number of meetings the club should run, one or four. It was eventually decided to hold a (meeting on Boxing Day, and one road race on September 22, the race to take the route to Mangatoki, Mstapu, Hunter Hoad, and home to Eltham. Mr. Beesley promised two prizes for this event. A big road race to Awatuna will be held later on. For this event Messrs. Hope Gibbons. Ltd., of Wellington, would give as a first prize a Massey-Harris cycle.—Star.
