A great, deal of interest was shown in a hockey match played at Stratford on Wednesday last, between teams representing tbe Stratford D.H. School and Hawera Technical School. The match was. one of the competition series for (he Southern Division, and additional interest was lent by the fact that neither tftam had, up to the limo of tbe match, been beaten, although Hawera Tech, lave yet to meet Hawera “A" who are one of the strongest teams, having been beateh by Stratford DH. School only. Right from the si art the result of the game jtfas never in doubt, as the Stratford forwards, by their splendid combination were pressing practically throughout the first, spell, which ended 4 to 1 in favor of the Stratford girls. Hawera scoring just on the call of half-time. The play at tie beginning of tho second spell was a little more evenly contested, although Stratford forwards were not showing such good combination as earlier in the game, their backs Were playing a particularly sound game, and on most occasions quickly checked any agresslve move on (he. part of tho Hawera forwards. Stratford forwards, however, soon settled down to the attack again, and iowards the end of tho spell scored several goals in quick succession, the game ending in a win for Stratford by 10 goals to 2. Goals were shot for Stratford by Miss Knight, 4, Miss Curtis, 4, Miss Ward, 2. The Hawera .forwards, although showing a great deal of pace at times had no combination, while the backs are the really weak spot of the team, and were beaten time after time by the concerted work of the Stratford forwards whose passing was a feature of the game.
