There was a large attendance and the yards were well fitted for Newton Kings Ltd’s, sale on Wednesday. The tone of the market was in some respects better than had been hoped for. Dairymen are on the look-out for milkers and are not to be easily put off for such cattle, in good condition. Young heifers, according to condition and quality are also in fair demand, especially where they show traces of Jersey strain. It is noticeable too that practically all the store stock entered, were cleared, though prices did not rise high. A considerable Increase in the output of dairy produce, from this, as well as other districts, is confidently predicted for the coming .season. Prices realised were: For heifor calves, plain 16s, good quality from 23s to 565, yearling heifers 63s to 745, Jerseys, small £5 Is,- well grown from £6 17s Od to £8 10s, steer calves from 5s Gd to 16s Gd, fat cow £7 2s Gd, empty heifers forward condition £4 12s 6d to £6 9s, store cows £1 7s 6d to £3 15s, bullocks £3 6s Gd. in-calf heifers £5, yearling Jersey bull £5 12s Gd, other bulls up to £3 10s, backward springing heifers £7 17s Gd, near profit £l6, cows springing ranged from £5 and £8 to £2O 10s, fat wethers made from 22s Gd to 245, and ewes in lamb 15s Gd. *
