The Taranaki Boxing Association’s big tournament takes place in the Coronation Hal) • 0-night, commencing at 8 p.m. Tho programme will open with the fly-weight amamvr bout, in which Collins (of Stratford) will meet Seamark (of Omata). In the featherweight Hope (of Now Plymouth) will be matched with Coates (of Omata)'. Jack Willis (of New Plymouth) will meet T. Cleary (of Oinata) in the welter bout. In the other welter bout A. Duggan (of Hawera) will mo A R. Fitzsimmons (of Matapu). In tho heavyweight Mills (of Riverlea) will try conclusions witl Macdonald (of Dunedin). W. Coomhe (of Oaonul) will box H Sharrock (of Stratford) in the light-weight. Then will come the big 15-rounds professional bout for a purse of £ 100, between Laurie Cadman (of Auckland) and Len McAsey (of Taranaki). It is the best professional bout yet arranged in Taranaki, and the interest taken in it can be gauged by the fact of patrons coming from Auckland and Wellington to sec it. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. A fifteen-round professional, light-weight boxing contest between Mick Rutherford (New South Wales) and Les. Murray (Dunedin) was fought in His Majesty’s Theatre to-night before a full capacity house. The contest only lasted nine rounds, Rutherford being unable to continue further. The local man w#s aggressive from the start, the visitor having to box on the retreat and the points of each round were secured by Murray, whose short jolts gradually wore his opponent down. At the end of the ninth round Rutherford’s seconds threw in the towel.
