LABOR AND ILLEGITIMACY. By Telegraph.-—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, August 9. The Labor members of the House of Commons have introduced the Illegitimacy Bill, proposing drastic amendments in the law, including a provision that affiliation applications may be made before the child’s birth; that the maximum weekly maintenance be £2; that the father may be ordered to contribute towards the apprenticeship and special education; that maintenance, may be ordered beyond the age of sixteen, if the child is physically or mentally deformed; that, as an alternative, the court may order the payment of a lump sum. It is also provided’that children shall be ligitimatised by the subsequent marriage of their parents.
