QUESTION OF AGREEMENTS. By Wecrnph -—Tress AssocJsUov Wellington, Last Night. In the course of a letter forwarded to Mr. Bishop (acting- secretary of the Coalmine Owners’ Association), Mr. Arbuckle (secretary of the Miners’ Federation) repeats his request for a conference between representatives of the owners and the federation for the purpose of making a new national agreement. He says the miners are averse to entering into local agreements suggested by the owners. An application by the coal owners for a local agreement relating to the miners in the Westland district is set down foi hearing before the Council of Conciliation at Reef ton on August 16.
