AUSTRALIA v. WARWICKSHIRE. AN EASY VICTORY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, August 9. The weather was fine and the wicket firm after rolling. The attendance was 3000. On resuming Armstrong declared the Innings closed at the over-night •score. Bowling analysis—Howell two for 67, Rotherham none for 73, Partridge three for 56, Quaife two for 5-6, Scorer none for 19. Warwickshire, in the second innings, only made 118, and Australia won ny an innings and 61 runs. Bates and Green opened Warwickshire's second innings, facing Gregory and McDonald. The first four overs were maidens, and from the first seven only six runs were scored. In half an hour the total had reached 22, of which Bates claimed 20. At 27 Armstrong relieved McDonald and got Green stumped. Bates, when 23, played a yorker Into xils wicket. Quaife then partnered Charlesworth. At 43 McDonald came back vice Gregory, and off his first over Armstrong brilliantly caught Quaife. Charlesworth and Holdsworth l carried the total to 63, the half century taking 65 minutes, at which stage Charlesworth was caught by Ryder. Just previously McDonald had dropped him off Armstrong. Wickets fell fast after luncheon. Scorer failed to negotiate one of McDonald’s full pitches; Holdsworth played the same bowler ' on; Smart spooned one to Collins.—Seven for 89. Oldfield bagged Partridge, and Cross partnered Botherham, who was missed by Taylor in the long field off Armstrong when, he had made a single. The i>air brought the score to 112 before McDonald found Rotherham's stumps, and the end came by McDonald bowling Rowell. The scores were : AUSTRALIA. MCDONALD’S ENGAGEMENT. NOT DEFINITELY ACCEPTER. London, August 9. Despite the kelson Club’s announcement, the Australian Press Association is authoritatively informed that McDonald has not signed an agreement, and has merely verbally promised to return from Australia next season. Members of the team still assert it is most unlikely McDonald will leave Australia.
