DOMINION NEWS.

AUCKLAND ABATTOIRS DISPUTE. By Telegraph —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. A conference of the parties in the city abattoirs dispute was held to-day on a summons by the industrial commissioner, following the union’s application for an interpretation of the award in regard to cutting up carcases. The City Council disputed the union’s position, but the commissioner held that an attempt hud been made by the union to settle the matter, and therefore he was in a position to deal with the matter, but required evidence. As the manager of the abattoirs is in hospital the proceedings were adjourned. CHARGE OF FORGERY. Gisborne, August fl. Stanley Henry Mercer, charged with having forged and uttered an order for a case of whisky at Waitara in October last, was before the Court this morning. Mercer was remanded to appear at New Plymouth on August 18.
