A BABY KILLED.
MOTOR KNOCKS OVER PRAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, Last Night. An inquest was held at Temuka to-day into the death of the infant son, one month old, of native parents named Rickus. The mother and another Maori woman were wheeling prams on one side of the main road, which was newly shingled in the middle, when a car driven by a farmer’s wife, Mrs. 8. Connolly, came along behind them. One mother turned out of the track to the right, and Mrs. Rickus turned into the shingle. The car also turned that way, and before it was stopped it struck the pram broadside and threw the infant on to the shingle, death following shortly after from concussion of the brain. The Coroner's finding recounted the fact, and added a rider that car drivers should be Icensed on proof of their ability to drive.
