TARANAKI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING.
A meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held yesterday. Present: Messrs. W. B. Grant (president), H. C. Sampson, A. E. Washer, J. H. Allen, W. Rumball, W. K. Morris, J. A. Kurth, A. Turnbull, C. Hoskin, A. R. Goodup, J, G. Short, and F. Dodunski.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. John Hale for a donation of a pedigree Jersey bull, and he was elected a life member of the society. The New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association wrote offering a subsidy of £ for .£, up to £5, for a class for Jersey cows of any age, which have been awarded a certificate of record for but-ter-fat production. A subsidy was also offered of £ for £ up to £25, on any donation made by the local Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association. It was decided to refer the letter to the New Plymouth Jersey Breeders’ Club for suggestions as to the institution of suitable classes, and for an indication of what donation they were prepared to give. An application from the New Plymouth High School Old Girls’ Association for the use’ of the annexe in connection with the holding of a mart on September 30 and October 1, was approved.
