UPPER SILESIA.
QUESTION OF REINFORCEMENTS. BRITISH RELIEF TROOPS. By Telegraph.— Press Assn.— Copyright. London, August 1. Mr. Lloyd George, in the House of Commons, stated that the first item on the Supreme Council’s agenda would be to decide whether, pending the announcement of the adjudication on the Silesian plebiscite, reinforcements are needed or not. Meanwhile the British, French and Italian ambassadors had jointly notified Germany to be prepared to facilitate the transit of Allied troops at any moment when the situation in Silesia rendered it necessary. Mr. Lloyd George added that he believed the question of the trial of war criminals would be considered by the Council. Mr. Lloyd George and Lord Curzon will attend the Supreme Council on Monday. I Both the Central and Prussian Governments have appealed to all the inhabitants of Silesia to act with restraint in order to make an unbiased decision by the Supreme Council possible. They urge Germane generally, who wish to. serve the German cause, to keep cool. The Daily Express understands that seven battalions of British infantry are under orders to go to Silesia to relieve the troops already there. AN APPEAL TO SILESIA. AN ATTITUDE OF RESTRAINT. The Government, in an appeal to Upper Silesians requesting them to adopt an attitude of restraint in order to make possible an unbiased decision, adds that {lie world must be afforded an example of hnw the people can smooth the way ' for a real solution of a question of vast importance.—Aua.-N.Z.
