July 27, The strike nt the Kawasaki dockyards, Kobe, has apparently ended in the crushing defer.! of the strikers. Thirty per cent, of the workers have returned to the shops unconditionally, and the remainder are expected to return shortly. These workers are the most skilled class in Japan, and are in a favorable position to enforce their demand. Their defeat is considered a blow against the right to organise unions.
