PERILS OF FLOODS.

SERIOUS DAMAGE IN N.S.W. HOUSES WASHED AWAY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received July 28, 7.50 pm. Sydney, July 28. As the floods in the northern rivers recede reports from outlying districts previously cut off by flood waters show that the losses of stock and crops and the damage generally are very serious and widespread. Much suffering was endured by marooned people, and many sensational escapes are recorded. In a number of cases houses were washed away bodily. The people in the flooded townships are now busily cleaning up deep mud deposited in the streets and houses, and removing debris, including dead animals, and righting houses which shifted their foundations.
