VALUATION OF LAND. By Telegrapl —Press Association. Wellington, July 28. At the Dominion Farmers’ Union Conference a committee submitted the following recommendations: That in future, fur the purpose of getting a more equitable valuation of rural lands and the improvement thereon, the Farmers’ Union be asked to nominate a representative with a knowledge uf local values to as x sfet the Government valuer; that due notice be served on every property owner when the valuation is to be made; that the whole of the,Dominion should be revalued periodically and all such valuations be given effect to simultaneously; that, in the event of an appeal, the appellant should have the right to appoint an assessor to the Assessment Court.
Mr. Flanagan (Valuer-General) was present. He said the system of appointing an assessor to assist the valuer would be brought into operation; the question of bringing the valuations in force on one day r was for the Commissioner of Taxes to decide. The committee’s recommendations were adopted.
