LONDON MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, July 22. Wheat.-—Market steady and moderate, business passing in Australian ex quay at 82s 9d. The official price of Australian f.a.q. wheat is fixed at 76s 6d. Flout.—Firm; Australian, delivered at 64s to 665, ex store 635. Oats.—Steady; New Zealand ex quay 48s to 50s. Peas.—Firm; Tasmanian blues ex store 360 s to 400 s; New Zealand 320 s to 3605. Sugar.—Finn. Granulated 595. A mixed B.A.W.R.A. and free wool sale was held to-day. There was good home competition for combing sorts at late rates. Continental qualities sold well, mainly to Germany. A good selection of New Zealand greasies fully (maintained the recent improvement. Though more machinery Is running Bradford reports that new business is very small. Sixty-fours quality tops are quoted at 38d per pound. Holders are willing to make slightconcessions. B.A.W.R.A. is curtailing the offerings at the present sales to 12,00(1 bales, and is withdrawing the sorts least saleable. The lim-. its will be strictly maintained. No B.A.W.R.A. sale will be held iu London during August. Twenty thousand bales , will be offered at Antwerp on August 25. The next London aeries opens on August 30. ADELAIDE WOOL SALES. Adelaide, July 23. There was spirited bidding at the ninth series of wool sales, and the lost ground was almost wholly recovered. MELBOURNE HIDE SALES. Melbourne, July 22. At the hide sales stouts were unaltered, mediums and heavies a half-penny dearer, kips and lights slightly easier. AUSTRALIAN DIGGER LOAN. Melbourne, July 23. Sir Joseph Cook has announced the terms of the Digger loan of ten millions at 6 per • cent. The price of issue is 96, and the date of maturity December, 1930. The money will be used for soldier settlement and war service homes. DUNEDIN WOOL SALES POSTPONED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, July 23. The wool sale arranged for Tuesday has been postponed in accordance with instructions from the Wool Committee owing to shipping difficulty. August 8 is suggested as the probable date. Beef.—Prime ox hinds 6d to fores 4d to 4%d per lb. Trade slow on account of weather. Argentine chilled hinds lid, fores sd. Butter. —Market firmer on account of light supplies. Drought still continues. Danish; Price has advanced to 242 s to 244 s per cwt. (2s 2d per lb), 268 s per cwt. (2ij 4%d per lb) asked at the end of the week. Argentine: Free 190 s to 198 s per cwt. (Is By,d to Is 9&d per lb). Very little free coming in besides Danish', which has created good demand for Government stocks. Latter sold:— New Zealand 221 s to 226 s per cwt. Argentine, salted and unsalted 225 s per cwt. (2s per lb). Cheese.—Home make falling off, and market firm. Reduction inXretail price has increased consumption. Finest English flnra at 145 s to 150 s per cvs. (Is 3%d to Is 4d per lb). New Zealand, colored 130 s to 134 s per cwt. (Is 2d to Is 2%d per lb), occasionally 136 s per cwt. (Is 2%d per lb, white 134 s to'l36s per cwt. (Is 2%d to Is 2%d per lb), anil up to 140 s per cwt. (Is 3d per lb). Demand less active. Canadian, available stocks short. Colored 126 s to 132 s per cwt. (Is l%d to Is 2d per lb), white 128 s to 134 s per cwt. (Is l%d to Is 2lid per lb). Wool.—Sales progressing. Principal activity from Continental buyers, though home trade shows more interest than at commencement. Fine merinos, slight improvement on opening rates. Offering New Zealand crossbreds large, generally selling freely at the decline, with price for inferior irregular. Slipe mostly withdrawn. Fair quantity Punta Arenas crossbreds taken Continent at June rates or better. The week's B.A.W.R.A. offerings consist of Australian merinos, greasy 12,900, scoured 31,00 bales, crossbreds, greasy 4800, scoured 1200 bales. New Zealand crossbreds, greasy 4400, scoured 1750, slipe 1400 bales. Hemp.—Manila market very quift and price easier. "J” Grade, July-September shipment quoted £35 10s per ton at beginning of week.

The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., Hamilton, have received the following cablegram from their London office:— Butter. —Government price New Zealand £l2 17s, Australian, first grade £l2, second grade £ll ss, third grade £lO 15s. Argentine £lO 5s to £ll ss. Free Danish £l3. Cheese: New Zealand £6 6s to £6 16s. Wool: Since sales opened, crossbreds have declined further about 5 per cent., especially good medium lots. Tallow prices irregular, but show advance of Is to 2s 6d. Light lambs, firm Is l%d to Is 2d, heavy slow 'demand Is. Mutton: Slow, 6%d to B%d. Maple peas, firm, near shipment worth about £5 c.i.f.
