TARANAKI FARMERS’ MUTUAL INSURANCE.
A RECORD YEAR.
The sixteenth annual meeting of the Taranaki Farmers’ Mutual Fire Insurance Association was held at Elthain yesterday, when Mr. J. Christoffel, chairman of directors, presided over a good attendance of members.
The report congratulated members on the successful year, and also made reference to the loss the directorate had sustained bv the death of the late Mr. W. D Powdrell.
At the end of the financial year the total policies in force were 2701, averaging approximately £323 each. This showed an increase of 554 policies. The gross insurances amounted to £923,593. During the year losses had totalled £5l 8s fid. The assets now totalled £59,579 3s 3d, being an increase of £17,346 9s 2d over the previous year. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, members congratulating the directors in the position of the association. The year just ended has been the best in its history, and as showing that the business was still increasing it was mentioned that the value of the. oolicies now exceeded considerably over £ 1,000,000.
Directors were elected as follows: Messrs. J. Christoffel, J. Best, C. J. Belcher, E. Maxwell, H. D. Forsyth, R. Lambic (re-elected) and H. G. Gibson. Air. E. Parrott was re-appointed auditor at a fee of 20 guineas
At a subsequent meeting of directors Mr J. Christoffel was re-elected chairman.
