LONDON MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 20. At the free wool sale a small selection of merinos was sold at recent rates. A large and good selection of crossbreds evoked brisker bidding for the home trade and the Continent. Prices were distinctly harder, especially tor medium and low qualities. The Ruru clip made to Bd, with an average of 6%d. At the tallow sales 1877 casks were offered and 1861 sold at Is to 3s advance. Fine mutton 41s per cwt., medium 38s; fine beef 445, medium 38s 6d; good mixed 38s. Mount Lyell shares 13s 6d; P. and 0., buyers £335, sellers £355. . AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, July 22. Barley.—-English, 4s 6d to 4s 7%d; Cape, 3s 9d to 3s lOd. Oats.—2s 9d. Potatoes.—£3 10s to £5. Onions.—£3 5s to £3 15s. THF TALISMAN COMPANY. LIQUIDATION PROPOSALS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, July 22. A meeting of shareholders of the Talisman G.M. Co., carried a resolution confirming the one previously passed for the voluntarily winding up of the company, and appointed Mr. Crewe, the company’s London secretary, liquidator at the remuneration of £250 plus disbursements, and directing the liquidation to appoint Messrs. Stansfield and Blanchard his attorneys in New Zealand at £4OO each and disbursements, Mr. Stansfield, in addition, to receive 12% per cent, commission on the realisation of plant, machinery, etc. It was stated that the directors expected the shareholders to receive not less than 7s dividend.

The meeting was lively owing to strong opposition by Mr. T. S. Weston (of Wellington) to the proposal by the chairman, Mr. Blanchard, which latter was eventually dropped, to appoint Messrs. Crewe, Stansfield and himself as liquidators. Mr. Weston said he would, if nece.:s.r.’y, go to the English Courts if Mr. Blanchard persisted. If it cost him £lOOO, to have him removed from office. After consulting his solicitor Mr. Blanchard agreed to drop his first proposal, and the business proceeded as stated above.

THE PIG MARKET. There was only one pen of slips offered at Newton King, Ltd.’s New Plymouth haymarket yesterday. They realised up to 15s each. THE POULTRY MARKET. YESTERDAY'S PRICES. The following prices were ' recorded at Messrs. L. A. Nolan and Co.'s weekly sale of poultry yesterday:—Hens, laying 4s to 6s Gd; killers, 2s 6d to 3s 3d; pullets, 6s 3d to 8s; cockerels, purebred up to 10s 6d; heavy, 5s to 6s; light, 3s 3d to 4s; roosters, 2s 6d to 4s; ducks, 3s 9d to 5s 3d; geese, ss. Messrs. Webster and Co. report:—Cockerels, 2s 6d to 4s; hens, 3s lOd to 5s 6d; ducks, 3s 6d to ss; turkeys, 8s 6d; geese, 5s 6d; pullets, 5s to 9s 6d. STRATFORD MARKET REPORTS. T. Lamason, Stratford, reports as follow: Poultry still in good demand. Hens, young, 3s 6d, ss; pullets, 6s to 10s; roosters, 2s 6d to ss; ducks, 3s 6d, 6s; drakes, 2s 6d to 3s 6d. Furniture, fijuit, etc., at usual rates. Congoleum, to arrive, 8s 6d yd. BURNSIDE STOCK SALE. LITTLE VARIATION IN PRICES. Dunedin, July 20. There were medium yardtngs of sheep, lambs, and pigs offered at Burnside to-day. Fat cattle and store cattle, on the other hand, were In full supply. The prices obtained showed little variation compared with late rates, although lambs were a farthing dearer, while fat cattle were sold at reduced values.

Fat Cattle.—A large yarding was offered, numbering 235 head. The quality was fair, although a number of pens contained animals that required further fattening. The sale opened at prices 10s per head below last vneek’a rates, and closed with prime cattle selling about on a par with last week’s rates. Medium and unfinished sorts were about 20s per head cheaper. Prime ox beef was worth about 41s per 1001 b, medium quality 33s to 265. Cow beef was in the vicinity of 20s. Prime bullocks realised from £lB 10s, to £22 7s 6d, medium £l5 to £l7 10s, light and unfinished sorts from £lO 10s upwards. Prime heifers realised from £l3 to £l5, medium £lO to £l2 10s, light and aged from £7 10s upwards.

Sheep.—A good yarding of fair quality, numbering 2654 head. The sale opened at prices Is per head Weaker than late rates, but values ' firmed towards the end of the Sale, which closed at prices on a par with last- week’s rates. Prime wether mutton was worth 3%d to 3%d per lb, ewe mutton 3d to 3%d. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers realised from 28s 9d to 30s 3d, prime 23s to 27s 6d, medium 19s to 225, light and unfinished sorts from 15s upwards. Prime ewes realised from 18s 6d to 22s 3d, medium 15s to 17s 6d, light and aged from 9s Gd upwards.

Lambs.—A small yarding, numbering 737 head. The quality was somewhat indifferent. There was a good demand and prices viere higher to the extent of Is per head. Values ranged from 25s to 28s Gd for extra prime lambs. Prime lambs realised 20s 3d to 24s 6d, medium 17s to 19s, inferior sorts from 10s Gd upwards, which is on a basis of 6%d to 6%d and occasionally 7d per lb.

Store Cattle. —A full yarding was offered. Among the number were several pens of good sorts, showing condition and breeding. Competition was fairly keen for this class, and one pen realised up to £l2 2s 6d per head. Young and inferior sorts received less attention and were more difficult to quit. Pigs.—A medium yarding, consisting mostly of porkers. There was good competition and the prices realised were equal to last week’s rates. Best baconers realised from B%d to 8 3 ,4 d per lb, and best porkers up to B%d per lb. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. FIRM SALE FOR ALL BUT FAT SHEEP. Christchurch, July 20. The Addington market to-day was marked by an excess yarding of fat sheep, and prices receded. Other sections of stock were in average supply, and met a firmer sale. Store Sheep.—There a moderate-sized yarding, principally of poor class sheep. Everything sold freely. Fair 4 and 6-tooth wethers IGs to IGs Gd, ordinary 13s 6c| to 15s 7d, 2-tooth wethers Ils 8d to 13s 7d, good 4, G and 8-toot.h ewes, in lamb 23s to 2Gs 2d, fair 4,6, and 8-tooth ewes 19s 6d to 225, inferior 13s Id to 16s, good sound and fail-ing-mouthed ewes 16s Id, aged ewes, in lamb 8s to 13s 4d, fairly good crossbred ewe hoggets 14s 4d, mixed sex hoggets 8s 9d to 10s lid, cull hoggets 5s to 6s Gd.

Fat Sheep.—There was an overflow yarding, being the biggest for some years. Values eased by about 3s per head all round. Extra prime wethers 26s 6d to 35s 7d, prime 19s 9d to 24s Gd, medium 17s 3d to 19s 6d, light and unfinished 15s 9d to 17s, prime ewes 17s 9d to 22s 3d, medium 14s 9d to 17s 3d, light and unfinished 13s to 14s Gd, extra prime hoggets 20s to 25s 6d, ordinary to good 14s 3d to 17a 3d. Fat Cattle. —A small yarding and an improvement in values of about 20s per head. Extra prime steers £25 7s 6d, prime £l5 to £lB 12s Gd, medium £ll 5s to £l4, prime heifers £lO 5s to £l4 17s 6d, ordinary £6 to £lO, prime cows £9 to £l3 2s 6d, ordinary £5 to £8

• Vealers.—A small entry and a good demand. Runners £B, good vealers £4 2s 6d to £4 15s, medium £2 10s to £4, small 20s to £2 7s 6d.

Store Cattle.—Four-year-old bullocks £ll, three-year steers £8 17s Gd to £9 10s, twoyear stews £4 10s to £5 ss, yearlings, £2 10s to £3 ss, good cows £4 10s to £O, inferior cows 25s to £2 2s Gd. Dairy Cattle —A large entry and a good market for good sorts. Purebred Friesians 21 guineas to 50 guineas, good second and third calvers £l6 to £2O, springing heifers £9 10s, aged and inferior cows 20s to £4 10s. Fat Pigs.—Better prices ruled. Choppers £5 to £9 ss, light baconers £5 to £5 15s„ heavy baconers £3 to £6 17s, extra heavy baconers £7 to £7 17s 6d (average price per lb B%d to 9d), light porkers £2 15s to £3 10s, heavy porkers £3 15s 6d to £4 10s (average price per lb lOd to 10%d). Store Pigs.—A keen demand, prices again advancing by several shillings. Medium stores 29s to 40s, large stores £2 14s to £3 3s, weaners 17s Gd to 28s, sows in pig £5 5s to £6 15s.
