The affiliated clubs’ billiard and snooker matches between the New Plymouth and South Taranaki Clubs were played at the Egmont Club last night. The Ohura football team were present as the guests of the Egmont Club, and a warm welcome was extended to them and to the visiting club members by the president (Mr. T. Lawson). A number of pleasing selections were played by the Egmont Club Orchestra during the early part of the evening, and at the conclusion of the tournament the visitors were entertained at supper. Totals: New Plymouth, 2 wins; South Taranaki, 2 wins. Grand totals: New Plymouth, 5 wins; South Taranaki, 3 wins. HOCKEY CLUBS’ BALL. The combined men’s and ladies’ hockey® dubs’ ball held in the Town Hall last night was an outstanding success, the hall being packed with dancers, and everything going off smoothly. The hall was beautifully decorated with the men’s club colors, the Whole scheme | being most effective. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Messrs. Kirk, I Aitken and McCain, and excellent music was supplied by Mrs. Bianchi’s orchesI tra, extras being played by Misses Masters, Nash and Moon. GENERAL. The Stratford Returned Soldiers’ Association has decided to abandon the suggested ball and now proposes to hold a dance similar to the one recently held, on August 4. A good farmer’s or householders bundle of stationery is supplied for 5s post free by Wilson Bros., stationers, Stratford. This is the list: Two writing pads, three packets envelopes, packet blotting slips, lead pencil, pen and scribbling or order pad.
