FARMERS’ CONFERENCE.

MANY SUBJECTS DISCUSSED. THE REMITS CARRIED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Agricultural Conference concluded to-day, when the following additional remits A'ere carried:— That the executive be requested to draw up a report on the advisability of forming a governing body for enforcing the resolutions passed at the conference in regard to A. and P. Society matters, and recommended to consider the organisation of bodies representing the farm>ng industry. That the Government be asked to inspect oil engines once only. That, single judging at shows be adopted. That heavy penalties be Imposed for using traps or other methods likely to destroy the na.ural enemies of rabbits That opossums bo not protected.

That the Government enforce the adoption of an ear-marking scheme. That steps be taken to * stamp out cattle tick and that, legislation be passed prohibiting the transfer of cattle from infected districts to clean areas. * That representation be made to the Railway Department to allow sufficient fodder for exhibitors’ stock, carried on the railway free. That the Government revert io the pre-war rates of freight on stock travelling to agricultural shows, on account of the heavy financial loss sustained by farmers.

That the Railway Department deliver stock to shows in daylight. That the duty be removed from imported timber. That a Forest Act be passed conserving forests. That the Government undertake a soil survey of New Zealand, the department to advise farmers as to the best use of island phosphates. That the Minister be asked to convene a. conference, of harbor boards with a view to the adoption of a system of permanent labor on wharves.
