RIOTOUS PRISONERS.

PENITENTIARY WRECKED. BUILDINGS SET ON FIRE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. New York, July 18. A Pittsburg telegram states that this morning 1000 prisoners in the western penitentiary, Pennsylvania, rioted and attempted to escape. A. fire, of incendiary origin, razed twelve small buildings and the interior of the main building was wrecked.. Fourteen prisoners, guards and firemen were seriously injured and many, it is believed, will die. The prisoners were dissatisfied with their treatment. The. men demanded cigarettes and the women powder and rouge. They declared that they had received these in other prisons from which they had been moved to the penitentiary,
