DISTRICT NEWS.

PUKENGAHU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A quiet wedding took place last week, the contracting parties being Mr. Hugh Ferguson, of Chea) Road, Ngaere, and Miss Olive Streeter, of Eltham. The happy couple went south for their honeymoon. On their return they were entertained by the local jazz band, conducted by bandmaster T. Hey, and a very enjoyable time was spent by all present. Our new school master took up t?s duties a fortnight ago, and is very popular with the children. 'Hie warm days are having a very beneficial effect on the grass and stock Ln general, and farmers in the district are looking forward to an early spring. Mrs. G. Coleman has been spending a fortnight in New Plymouth and returned home this week. Mrs. Hunt, of Jepkoia, is staying with her daughter, Mrs. Hey, for a few days. Miss V. Gibbons is visiting friends down south. Misses Death have returned from their holiday in the Auckland district. Mrs. Harper has returned' from her holiday up north. Mrs. F. Shirley, of New Plymouth, has been spending a few days with Mrs. A.’Bradley, of Pukengahu. Despite the inclement weather a good number attended the usual fortnightly euchre party and dance, held in the school. The ' winning lady was Mrs. Mertheas, and the winning gentleman Mr. A. Glides.
