PROPOSED FLIGHT.
FROM HOBART TO NEW ZEALAND. A SPORTING “STUNT.” By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright Melbourne, July 19. The Controller of Civil Aviation, Lieut. Brinsmead, is endeavoring to dissuade Lieut. Briggs from flying from Hobart to New Zealand until he has a flying boat or other suitable machine. He’ contends that a failure would be disastrous to aviation in Australia. Lieutenant Briggs has replied that he is desirous of being the first to inase such a flight. It was a sporting “stunt,” and he denied that failure would have the effect suggested.
