' LONDON MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, July 14. To-day's sales were confined to free wool. Merinos, chiefly West Australian scoured, were slow of sale, with values unchanged. There were a few withdrawals owing to th® high reserves. Fine crossbreds and slipes made full late rates, medium and low qualities went slightly in buyers’ favor. A New Zealand lot branded Kra sold, top price 9d, average Little business is passing m the Bradford market and quotatons are nominal as they were not seriously tested. Six-ty-fours quality 38d. Mount Lyell shares 13s Bd, Waihl Junction 9S. Wheat.—-Easier. Australian, ex quay 72s Id, flour 64s to 65s delivered, 62s 9d to arrive. Oats.—Firmer. ' Beans.—Firm and dearer. Peas.—Firm and unchanged. CANTERBURY MARKETS. v NORTH ISLAND INQUIRY FOR OATS. Christchurch, July 15. An Inquiry for oats, which has set in from the, North Island to a limited extent, has rather tended to brighten the position. Local stocks of oa.ts are abnormally light for July, and farmers are offering very nw at the current quotations of 2s 9d to 2s 10d. ; Red clover has been the medium .of bust-, •ness at 105 s per cwt. dressed, equal to* up 9d per lb to farmers for undressed. Both .North and South have been inquiring, and tjio Old Country is also stated to be in the market. White clover is also being inquired f° r - Potatoes have sagged to their lowest point this year. Substantial shipments have been consigned to, Auckland during the past week, or so, giving stocks there no opportunity of diminishing, with the Inevitable result that’ values have tumbled. One consignor received on his consignment a return of £2 2s. About £2 5s per ton at country stations would cover merchants’ offers. N.Z. LOAN AND MERCANTILE. The Neiv Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 13th Instant:— Tallow.—We quote present spot values for the following descriptions:—Fine mutton, £1 18s 3d per cwt; good beef, £1 18s 6d per cwt.; mixed, £1 Ils 6d per cwt. Good demand for fine mutton tallow. Frozen mutton.—s%d to B%d per lb. Frozen lamb.~ls l%d per lb. Frozen beef.—Nominal quotations. Hot weather considerably affects the market. New Zealand butter.—£ll per cwt. Good demand. Cheese.—£6 10s per cwt. Market firm with upward tendency. POULTRY MARKET. NEW PLYMOUTH SALES, Nolan and Co, made an innovation at their New Plymouth mart on Friday by holding a sale of purebred poultry, entries for which were received from leading breeds from all parts of the district. There was gbod competition all through, particularly for Brown Leghorn cockerels, which sold up to 27s each, while, in White Leghorn hens a line of 35 realised 6s 9d each, pullets frm 7s 9d to 13s; White Leghorn cockerels up to £1 according to size and quality; Minorca cockerels 4s to 5s 6d; trios of White Leghorns, for £1 to £3 17s 6d; Minorcas 17s; Andalusians £1; trio of turkeys £1 10s; ordinary hens made 3s to 4s 6d; ducks, 3s to ss; Muscovy ducks 4s 6d. A, fair quantity of ducks were penned at Webster Bros., and were in good demand, realising from 4s 6d to 6s 6d each. Owing to the wet weather no ordinary poultry was penned.
