BREACH OF CUSTOMS LAW. By Telegrapii.—Pre*’ Association Auckland, July 13. Alexander Butler, dealer in antiques, was fined £240 on charges of smuggling and making false declarations with regard to three lots of antiques and old chinaware which he had declared as household effects to evade duty. WATER IN THE MILK. Masterton, July 15. William Moore, dairy farmer, was fined £2O at Court to-day for having •old milk adulterated with water. MORE IMMIGRANTS ARRIVE. Auckland, July 15. The Paparoa arrived this morning with 300 immigrants. Those bound south leave by the Wellington express Bt 7.10 to-night. Auckland, Last Night.
The Pnparoa’s 314 passengers from Britain include 133 immigrants, 62 being nominated. There are 45 domestics and 26 Imperial Government settlers, the majority being farm workers and artisan*. with, .soma yninAra.
